La Habra Business Connection is open to many businesses operating in and around the city of La Habra, California. The true strength of this group lies in its cohesive united front developed through many business and social interactions.
The following excerpts are from the La Habra Business Connection Guidelines and By-Laws:
MISSION STATEMENT It is the goal of the members of La Habra Business Connection to generate both internal and external leads for fellow members.
MEETING TIME AND PLACE
The La Habra Business Connection meets every Wednesday morning at the La Habra Community Center (Click link for map) or other convenient suitable site. Meetings will begin promptly at 7:30 A.M. and adjourn at 8:30 A.M. Members are encouraged to arrive at 7:15 A.M. to network. If a meeting date falls on a holiday, the meeting will be cancelled for that week. BUSINESS/PROFESSIONAL CATEGORIES Upon joining the La Habra Business Connection, each member must declare a primary Business/Professional Category; Members have exclusive rights to the primary category they choose. DUES Members are required to pay dues of $25 per month which includes a breakfast every Wednesday morning. If an additional representative from the same member's business attends the Wednesday morning meeting, then that additional representative shall pay $5.00 to cover the cost of breakfast. Subject to a vote by the majority of the membership, special onetime dues may be assessed from time to time to finance special projects and other items such as La Habra Business Connection business cards, brochures and flyers all designed to promote both each member's individual business and the La Habra Business Connection; Any member who invites a guest, who subsequently joins the La Habra Business Connection, will receive one month dues at no cost. ATTENDANCE Failure to attend three (3) consecutive meetings will result in a friendship letter of concern mailed to the member. A non-response to the letter by the end of a two (2) week period may result in cancellation of membership whether or not that member has paid in full; Members will be considered present if a representative attends in their place when they, themselves are unable to attend, except for illness. GUESTS Members are encouraged to consult with the Membership Chairperson and then invite individuals who have potential to become members. The guest will receive breakfast courtesy of the organization on their first visit only; In order to protect each member's category, members are asked to invite only those guests who do not present a conflict with categories already represented in the organization and have been approved to attend by the Membership Chairperson; Guests will be allowed time to introduce themselves, given a brief summary of their business, and reminded to pass enough business cards around the table so that each member may take a card. SPEAKERS/EXHIBITIONS Each member will be given an opportunity to be a speaker in rotating order. Speakers will begin promptly at 7:50 A.M. and may speak for not more than twenty (20) minutes. If two speakers are scheduled, ten (10 ) minutes will be allowed for each speaker. Speakers will inform the group of their own products or services. Speakers are encouraged to use this time to display; exhibit and promote their business to the fullest extent. Guest speakers will be coordinated by the Vice President and approved by the Board. Guest Speakers will be allowed fifty (50) minutes for their presentation. Guest speakers should be someone who will be informative and educate members with information that can make all members more successful. All members should be courteous while the speaker has the floor. This is his/her time to communicate to the membership. No side conversations should take place and all members should listen attentively. The speaker may have some very useful, beneficial information or ideas from which many can benefit. All questions and comments are to be held until the speaker opens the floor for Q and A. Board Members and Committees The Board of Directors consists of the following positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Membership Chairperson. To serve as an officer or on the Board of Directors a person must: be a member in good standing; have been a Connection member for a minimum of six (6) months, be current on all monthly dues, attend meetings according to guidelines, be willing and available to serve a six (6) month term defined as January 1 through June 30 or July 1 through December 31.
